On May 28, Davis will defend the WBA (Regular) lightweight title against Rolando Romero. The fight takes place inside New York’s Barclays Center. How old is Gervonta Davis? Davis is 27. Since he was 5 years old, Davis trained at the Uptown Boxing Center. Current Deal With Floyd Mayweather After an amateur career record of 206-15, including the 2012 National Golden Gloves Championship, Davis turned pro in 2013 at age 18.

He would start another streak between 2015 and 2021 of 16 bouts ending via the power punch. In 2015, Davis signed with Mayweather Promotions. He was featured prominently on Mayweather cards. In 2018, Davis beat Jesus Cuellar to win the WBA (Super) super-featherweight title. Against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2019, he won the WBA (Regular) lightweight title. It was a fight in which he was tested for 12 rounds for the first time in his career, but ended the bout via TKO. “Tank” would change weights again to face Leo Santa Cruz in October 2020, beating him for the WBA (Super) super-featherweight title. He then focused on the WBA (Regular) super-lightweight title, taking down Mario Barrios in June 2021.

In his last fight in December 2021, Davis beat Isaac Cruz via unanimous decision to retain the WBA (Regular) lightweight title. His next fight against Rolando Romero will be the last one under his deal with Mayweather.

Davis has his own history of legal issues, including an arrest on charges of simple battery/domestic abuse against his former girlfriend. That happened in February 2020 at a basketball game. Davis was charged in March with 14 traffic violations after Baltimore police said he ran a red light in November 2020. He reportedly struck another vehicle, which injured several passengers. Davis has since reportedly rejected a plea for the hit-and-run charges and is scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 21.
